The Penn Foster blog is dedicated to enhancing the Penn Foster student experience, making it more interactive, and hopefully more fun! We feel that posting about news stories, motivational pieces and how-to’s related to our programs helps bridge the gap between digital learning and the world around us, while also providing students with a resource they can use both while enrolled in Penn Foster programs and after graduation.
Keeping the Penn Foster blog light and easy-to-read—while also relevant and helpful—are definitely priorities of ours. If there’s anything you would like to see posted about more often, let us know! This blog is made to serve Penn Foster students’ needs, and we will gladly cater the posts to make your Penn Foster education work for you.
Students often prefer to attend school online because of the freedom and flexibility that comes with learning at home. Online learning is practical for those who don’t prefer to travel or are looking for a more affordable education. It also allows students to choose from a wide selection of programs while also maintaining a full-time job. As with any new venture, online learning also has its challenges that must be tackled before the program begins. Once you have prepared yourself for this new method of learning the rest is a piece of cake. Here is a list of a few common mistakes made by online students that you should try to avoid:
1. Not checking out the school. Make sure the institution is accredited, matches your interests, and offers technical support before you enroll.
2. Budgeting at less than 10 hours a week for studying. If you want to earn good grades, set aside between 15-20 hours a week for studying.
3. Being unrealistic about your learning style. Students who rely on social support may not be candidates for online learning. These courses work best for self-disciplined students.
4. Not having the right technology. Slow internet connection might interfere with assignment deadlines. Also, make sure your computer is equipped with the latest software programs.
5. Using “Copy & Paste” shortcuts on assignments. Online schools still require students to obey an honesty policy so avoid plagiarism at all times.
Online learning is fun, convenient, and affordable. To get the most out of your education make sure you do your homework and take the proper measures before beginning a new program. For more tips on how to avoid common online learning mistakes check out this article!
