The Penn Foster blog is dedicated to enhancing the Penn Foster student experience, making it more interactive, and hopefully more fun! We feel that posting about news stories, motivational pieces and how-to’s related to our programs helps bridge the gap between digital learning and the world around us, while also providing students with a resource they can use both while enrolled in Penn Foster programs and after graduation.
Keeping the Penn Foster blog light and easy-to-read—while also relevant and helpful—are definitely priorities of ours. If there’s anything you would like to see posted about more often, let us know! This blog is made to serve Penn Foster students’ needs, and we will gladly cater the posts to make your Penn Foster education work for you.
Online education and distance learning has come a long way, and judging by a recent report from some of the nation’s top educators and specialists, the possibilities of online education continue to grow. Although online education has often served as an alternative to traditional, brick-and-mortar schools, professionals are beginning to see how online education can best serve their purposes—from colleges using online delivery methods to keep up with an increased demand for higher education to businesses using online classes to help train employees. While the subject matter that could be covered through distance learning was once limited, the internet has allowed for nearly every subject to be taught online, changing the landscape of education and providing learning opportunities for those looking to further their education without physically attending a school’s campus.
Check out a summary of the 2011 Future of Online Education report here, and see what others have to say about the value of online education in today’s world. The use of online delivery methods by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department—which used online classes to deliver information to a staff of nearly 5,000—is one of the more unique and high-profile cases for online education. The possibilities brought forward by online education are just beginning to be uncovered, so now is both an interesting and exciting time to catch up on the progress made by the distance learning field. Educators saw the benefits of online education years ago; judging by this report, those benefits have finally been realized by people everywhere.
I am glad that online classes are starting to get better respect.
