The Penn Foster blog is dedicated to enhancing the Penn Foster student experience, making it more interactive, and hopefully more fun! We feel that posting about news stories, motivational pieces and how-to’s related to our programs helps bridge the gap between digital learning and the world around us, while also providing students with a resource they can use both while enrolled in Penn Foster programs and after graduation.
Keeping the Penn Foster blog light and easy-to-read—while also relevant and helpful—are definitely priorities of ours. If there’s anything you would like to see posted about more often, let us know! This blog is made to serve Penn Foster students’ needs, and we will gladly cater the posts to make your Penn Foster education work for you.
Your college years are a time for you to really become the person you want to be for the rest of your life, even though you might feel as if you have no idea what kind of person that is. Which is the point—college is a valuable learning experience beyond its academic side, and the importance of exploring the world, exposing yourself to new cultures, and even shocking yourself by doing something you might consider out-of-character should not be understated. The more you stimulate your brain, the more you will be able to apply what you learn within your chosen field to the world around you.
A recent USA Today article discusses the “Eight risky things you should absolutely do in college,” which serves more as a guide to getting college students out of their shells than it does a guide to getting students in trouble. While I would not recommend missing classes or purposely bombing a test, I can completely get behind the spirit of spontaneity and creativity. The article, which you can read here, serves to show students the world outside of their own, which can be accessed by something so simple as taking an unplanned road trip with your friends on the weekend, or taking a professor that you know will challenge you endlessly. It’s fun, it’s eye-opening, and you might learn a few things that you wouldn’t normally take away from a normal college lesson.
Check out the article, then tell us what you think! Would you try any of these? Are the parts of your college experience that stand out those that took place inside a lesson or study session, or were they more personal moments that changed the way you thought about things? We’re extremely curious, so please leave us a comment below and let us know!
Of the 8 things I think the only I wouldn't be willing to try is "Bombing a test". I feel so bad when I fail now that doing it deliberately would be devasting to me. Some I have done already, like vising a church of another faith..it was an unusual experience...unplanned road trip I do often but not with close friends..most of my close friends are miles away in other states. Interesting article anyway..makes one think.
intresting article but , why not study on weekends, why bomb a test, college is setting up your future so i would take it seriously ...the ones i agree with are 3,4,5,6
