WE NEED YOUR FEEDBACK!!! Would you like to see Penn Foster Programs offered on Mobile Devices such as the Apple iPad ®?

Penn Foster is looking into offering some of our Programs on a Mobile Device such as an Apple iPad ® instead of textbooks. The Mobile device could be included with the cost of materials and preloaded with all your course information or purchased separately allowing the student to download the course information. What do you think students? Would this be something you would be interested in?

Discussion vs. Question Threads

When you create a forum or forum thread, you may see the Compose page with options for Discussion and Question.

This means the forum is configured to give you the option of creating a thread in one of the two format options we support:

Discussion - The forum format is a traditional discussion format in which users see a Reply button when they are able to comment on the forum.

Question - The forum post is presented as a question for users to respond to. The Question and Answer functionality is very useful because it provides a means of tracking whether or not your question has been answered.

The Compose page allows you to enter your thread title and the thread body text. You can also specify that you want to be notified via email of any replies to the thread.

Creating a Forum Post

You must have the create new threads privilege to create a forum post. Telligent Evolution provides you with three options for creating a new thread:

Quick Post - You can only create threads for group forums.
New Post - Available in the group, forum, and forum thread context.
Start a New Thread - Available in the forum links widget. This option is available only if the forum links widget is enabled and configured to include the Start a New Thread function.

You are invited to share your thoughts and comments on eCampus, but we encourage you to do so safely and wisely. Here are some simple rules for posting comments to eCampus:

The comments you post to eCampus are publicly available. Your posts may be recorded and stored in multiple places. Your posts are likely to be accessible for a long time and you don’t know who will eventually read them. A forum is a portion of a community where users can post items to the site and then discuss the item in a conversational manner. A forum consists of threads created by users.

Your access to forums functionality is determined by your user privileges. For example, you must have create new threads permission to create forum posts. If you have any questions about accessibility to the forums functions, contact your administrator.

The Using Forums section of the User's Guide describes the common forums functionality available to you. This section includes the following subdirectories and articles:

Create forum post - Start a new thread or respond to an existing thread; specify tags, receive notifications of responses, and add attachments to posts.
Discussion vs. question threads - Comparing and contrasting the two types of forum posts; using the various answer options for Q&A posts.
Edit forum post - Change text, header, or post-date a forum post.
Emoticons - Creating or changing emoticons (from keyboard shortcuts), plus a full listing of Telligent Evolution-supported emoticons.
General descriptions of forum functionalities - Learn about favoriting a forum; subscribing to the forum or to a thread; capture a thread to a wiki, and send the forum link to a friend.
Subscribe to forum RSS feed - Add a syndication link to the forum to your Dashboard/Home Page.
