A physical therapy aide is an entry level position. A physical therapy assistant is usually a two year associate degree program with more than likely a practicum or externship of some kind attached with the program. Penn Foster offers the aide program, not the assistant program. There is no licensing or credentialing necessary with the aide position.  The salary differences could vary greatly depending upon what state you are employed and the demand for the position.
